Cyclists finish with a big YES!

Yes, at the finish line.

Imagine finishing the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg, and your significant other gets down on bended knee as you both finish the race together, to ask for your hand in marriage? That's exactly what happened to Abigail Goose, when boyfriend Graham Knight proposed just after they received their medals.

The challenge for me was keeping up with her the entire way because she is a much stronger ride than I am. But nevertheless, I think I weathered well.

Graham Knight

We got to the finish line. I pulled off to the side. I said, "please do you mind holding my bike". She took hold of the bike. And I dropped to my knee. And then, ja. Someone caught it on a cellphone camera, posted it on Facebook.

Graham Knight

Well, I was completely caught off guard, but saying 'yes' was probably one of the best decisions I've made so far.

Abigail Goose

The couple have been training together for the 947 Vitality Short Ride and it was a goal that both Graham and Abigail worked towards, to finish the ride. The couple are very active they do nearly everything, including riding motorbikes and scuba diving.

Ninth #RideJoburg for Letshego Zulu

Letshego Zulu, South African biokineticist and adventure enthusiast, took to the streets of Joburg on Sunday 17 November, on her mountain bike, and moved more with the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg. This was her ninth Ride Joburg and she can't wait to participate in 2020 for her 10th one and receive her yellow number.

I challenged myself a bit because I decided to opt for my mountain bike and not my road bike, because I wanted a bit of a leg workout.

Letshego Zulu

Letshego loves being part of the atmosphere that Ride Joburg brings to the streets of Joburg. She loves seeing the faces of Joburg on the pavements, supporting all the riders. With a GoPro and cellphone in hand, she is that rider that takes videos along the route and selfies of her ride.

Being the active person that she is, she trains three to four times a week, in order to prep for a race like Ride Joburg.

I'm generally an active person. I'll run three times a week. I'll get on the Wattbike twice a week, I'll do functional training in the gym. I'm almost always ready for a Ride Joburg.

Letshego Zulu

There are over 100 charities that are registered with the event, and Letshego rides for different charities at any given year. It is very important for Letshego to incorporate helping others when she participates in the event.

I'm most of the time riding for different charities that I support, from kids kicking cancer to caring for girls to special Olympics. For me, it's all about doing something for a person.
